Certified high animal welfare

Bilde

Norsk Kylling is the world's first and only large-scale chicken producer certified according to the animal welfare standard ECC – European Chicken Commitment.

Since 2022, all chicken in our value chain has been produced in accordance with the ECC. This means we meet the requirements set by 37 international animal welfare organisations. These standards come in addition to national regulations and industry requirements for poultry welfare in Norway.

Requirements in the ECC-standard

  • Slower-growing chicken breed

  • Environmental enrichments

  • Natural light

  • More space

  • Third-party audit

Growing demand for ECC-certified chicken

Thanks to our certification, we are experiencing high demand from around the world. There is no doubt that higher animal welfare standards have become a sought-after form of production. In the Nordic region alone, 167 companies have committed to selling only ECC-certified chicken. For Europe, the number is 386 – and the trend is growing.

Farmers open to change

The ECC certification would not have been possible without the positive attitude and adaptability of the farmers we work with. They are at the forefront of the effort to ensure good animal welfare. The dedication shown in the farmhouses every single day ensures a safe, high-quality, and future-oriented production.
