Work environment
We are responsible for building a positive work environment where employees thrive, feel included, are safe, and have opportunities to grow.
We are each other's work environment
Eli-Marie B. Rolseth works as Organisational Manager at Norsk Kylling, and she summarises some of the key takeaways from the year.
What has been special for 2024?
– We have never had higher application numbers for open positions, and it’s exciting to see so many people wanting to work with us. For ten advertised positions, we received a total of 883 applicants! In addition, there is strong interest from unsolicited applications.
What have been the key focus areas?
– Sick leave has been too high in recent years. We are continuously working on finding solutions and can show positive development. Managers and employees maintain close dialogue when follow-up is needed, and we accommodate as much as possible to help combine work with health challenges. Additionally, we have initiated efforts to strengthen the work environment and ensure employee involvement through the project

We are each other’s work environment – no matter how you choose to contribute, we share the same commitment.
How can employees help influence the work environment?
– At Norsk Kylling, we are a team, where our work processes depend on each other. We have many skilled union representatives, safety delegates, members of the working environment committee, AKAN representatives, and the emergency preparedness organisation. Everyday engagement is also important — such as reporting deviations and improvement suggestions, responding to the work environment survey, or participating in the company sports team.

Cooperation that fosters workplace unity
Our union representatives are crucial for ensuring good dialogue and a shared understanding between employees and management. Their efforts strengthen cooperation, provide us with clear direction, and lay a solid foundation for achieving our goals.
We have four trade unions and union representatives at our company:
Norsk Nærings- og Nytelsesmiddelarbeiderforbund (NNN), Lenka Bistiakova (Chief Union Representative)
Forbundet Styrke, Erlend Berglund
Norges Ingeniør- og Teknologorganisasjon (NITO), Tom Teigen
Den norske veterinærforening (DNV), Hanne H. Aakerholm
Ergonomics and automation in focus
In 2024, we have placed special focus on ergonomics and automation. We have served as a pilot company for mapping risk factors in physically demanding work. In a research project involving, among others, SINTEF Digital and the HSE service, sensors were attached to employees to investigate whether certain tasks can cause strain over time and if parts of the work can be automated. The results showed that some tasks can be physically demanding, but the risk is reduced when routines are followed and training is thorough. This provides us with a solid foundation for further improvements and safer working days.
Development and competence
We are always striving to improve. To do so, we need engaged people with the right skills. At Norsk Kylling, employees should have the opportunity to develop throughout their entire careers. This engagement motivates and drives results.
We are a certified training company, and many of our employees want to enhance their skills. As a training company, we provide apprentices, trainees, and employees working towards certification with the opportunity to develop through practical training. In 2024, we saw an increase in the number of certifications and apprentices. We are also proud that our Chief Veterinarian completed her doctoral degree.

Through my certification, I had the opportunity to develop professionally and gain valuable experience. I gained deeper insight and understanding of how important the entire process is.
A shared workplace language
At Norsk Kylling, we have employees from 31 different nationalities, which makes it essential to be a language-developing workplace. In collaboration with Capeesh, we have developed a game-based learning module for our workplace language, currently used by 100 of our employees.
In addition, we offer ongoing Norwegian language courses; this year, we completed two groups with a total of 32 participants. For us, this is a continuous effort to strengthen language comprehension and collaboration throughout the organisation.

Company sports team
Norsk Kylling’s corporate sports club organises and facilitates a variety of activities for our employees. Through the club, we aim to promote physical activity and well-being through teamwork, friendship, and engagement. In 2024, we nearly doubled our number of members, with 130 active colleagues participating in both small and large activities and events throughout the year. We are especially proud of the record-breaking participation in the Trondheim Marathon, with 105 members at the starting line, and of our men's football team, who won the 3rd division in the corporate league.
